La Palazzetta Rosso Di Montalcino

$2833
750mL
2021

This Rosso di Montalcino was born in vineyards planted at 365m above sea level, protected from the hot winds that come from the south of the country by Mount Amiata and blessed with high sun exposure, in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, in the south of the denomination.

Castelnuovo dell'Abate is considered the best of the 5 sub-zones in the south of the DOC, famous for wines that carry a unique impression of abundant fruit, structure and longevity. Here the wines of Mastrojanni, Collosorbo, Uccelliera, among other greats, are born.

Unknown to many until the last decade, when its wines began to stand out in international critics' articles and lists, the small La Palazzetta, owned by producer Fabio Fanti, has one of the best parcels of terroir in this sub-region.

Inspired by the greatest producers in Burgundy, Fanti was one of the pioneers in the region to implement 100% organic viticulture and biodynamic methods.

This 100% Sangiovese was made with hand-harvested grapes that underwent two days of cold maceration, followed by alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. The wine was then transferred to 5 hectoliter French tonneaux, where it underwent malolactic fermentation and remained for 14 months before being bottled.

In the glass it presents an intense ruby ??red color, with violet reflections, with caramel tones.

Sandalwood and Indian spices jump out at you, with a hint of toasted wood and ripe jabuticaba.

On the palate, it is lean and then expands into bright acidity, with great lightness, elegance and refinement. Ferrous, with a toasted hint in the background, it integrates acidity and firm tannins very well, revealing an austere side. This is a Rosso for the Bordeaux lover.

Capable of giving pleasure and good taste to the palate in the company of meat-based dishes, roasts, game and semi-cured cheeses.
