Legado De Moncayo Garnacha Blanca

$1397
750mL
2017

Nice Spanish white wine made from white Grenache.

You can easily choose Spanish when you need to find full-bodied white wines with good acidity and a nice length that can complement large fish dishes. Isaac Fernandez exemplifies this with this ripe and fresh Garnacha Blanca.

Isaac Fernandez is no stranger to it. He is the nephew of Mariano Garcia, who has been behind giant wines such as Vega Sicilia and Aalto.

Isaac now stands on his own two feet and shows his very own qualities and thoughts on how Spanish wine can also taste. The green Garnacha Blanca grapes come from vines that are fifteen years old. Unlike Isaac Fernandez's red wines, the grapes for the white wines come from a soil that is not quite as stony. Here, the Garnacha Blanca vines give exactly the style that Isaac wants, and after the grapes have been hand-harvested and vinified, they age on the remains of grape skins, pulp and seeds.

It takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks, where the wine comes to its senses over a good six months before the winery bottles it.

In the glass, you experience a light golden wine that is clear in the glass and that smells ripe and fresh of pear, melon, acacia flower and a little fennel. In the mouth it feels soft and dry at the same time, and there are notes of yellow plums and tangerines. It is a wine with lots of flavor and structure, and its broad-shouldered body has good acidity and a nice length. It can therefore handle most fish dishes, shellfish and light meat, and it doesn't matter if the menu also includes a creamy sauce, because Legayo del Moncayo can easily handle that.
