The South Island of New Zealand provides the perfect growing conditions for Riesling, with a cool climate and low humidity resembling climatic conditions in parts of France and Germany where Riesling thrives.

The Koyama Tussock Terrace Vineyard Riesling comes from vines planted in 2004 on gravelley and sandy soil in the Waipara Valley. Fermentation took place in stainless steel, in order to retain the aromatics and freshness of the wine.

The residual sweetness helps to balance the high acidity, with citrus, blossom and zesty notes offering a delightful balance between the sweet and sour aromas and flavours. This Riesling is the ideal pairing for tangy Asian foods or even fish and chips.

Winemaker's Notes

The grapes were sourced from free draining, gravel soil Vineyard in the heart of Waipara Valley. Vines were planted in 2004 by Mr. David Bedford. 2019 was very hot and dry all through growing season, result in almost no botrytis influence. After harvested, grapes were whole bunch pressed, fermented in a stainless-steel tank under temperature control. Fermentation was stopped at about 7g/L residual sugar to balance with acidity.
