Sangiovese di Romagna Superiore “Prugneto” is one of the most representative and prestigious labels of Poderi dal Nespoli. An important regional point of reference, it has attracted attention thanks to a range of wines that express the best territorial customs in a frank and authentic way. Sangiovese has lived for centuries in these lands, which together with Tuscany constitute its historic cradle. It is an intense, rich and fruity red , which highlights the elegance of the grape variety, thanks to careful vinification and refinement with a very well-calibrated use of wood.
“Prugneto” Sangiovese di Romagna Superiore by Poderi dal Nespoli, is born in a company that has been cultivating vineyards in the Forlì hills for four generations, producing the classic wines of the Romagna tradition. It is the fruit of a particularly suitable parcel of the company estate. The Sangiovese grapes come, in fact, only from the Prugneto vineyard, the first estate purchased by the Ravaioli family, which has always stood out for producing superior quality grapes, characterized by very rich and concentrated aromas. The vines are grown on medium-textured soils of predominantly clayey origin, very suitable for red grape varieties, which, thanks to the mild climate, reach a perfect level of ripeness. At the end of the harvest, the bunches are sent for fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature and with maceration on the skins. The wine is refined in steel tanks, except for a part that matures in 25hl French oak barrels, in order to enrich its aromatic complexity.
The red Sangiovese di Romagna Superiore “Prugneto”, made by the Forlì winery Poderi dal Nespoli, is a beautiful expression of the grape variety, in its exuberant immediate pleasantness. Excellent to taste when young, it also has good aging potential. In the glass it presents a beautiful bright red color. The olfactory profile is characterized by floral nuances of iris, violet, aromas of morello cherry, red currant, plum, delicate hints of undergrowth and spices. Medium-bodied, it has a well-integrated tannic texture and a ripe and pleasantly juicy fruit . The finish is persistent and fruity.
