A spectacular value in Willamette Valley red wine, this fresh Gamay opens to aromas of red berries, warm earth, roses and violets, then transitions to a zesty/succulent mouthful of black cherry, plum, sage and black tea. The finish carries yummy flavor and subtle structure. An excellent all-round fall red to pair with roasted birds (Thanksgiving, anyone?), eggplant parmesan, mushroom risotto, and I could go on and on.
Exciting things are happening at Anne Amie! No, the labels aren’t changing (which would indeed be exciting) but it’s what is in the bottle that counts. 2022 represents the first full vintage of new winemaker Jay Somers–Jay previously of J. Christopher, now of J.C. Somers. While Jay is a two decade-plus veteran of Willamette Valley wine, we think his wines have never been better than they are now, and that very much includes the wines he’s making at Anne Amie.
